Expert Witness

 

Dr Caroline J. Formby has been providing assessments and reports for psychological injury, as an expert witness since 2014. She is experienced in assessing adults, children, older adults and people with a mild learning disability. She is specifically experienced in assessing for trauma.

 

She has completed the 3-part Bond Solon Training in Civil Law and holds certification provided by Cardiff University.

 

She has experience of and is available to work on Personal Injury Fast and Multi-track cases, Clinical Negligence, Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority cases and the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme.

Dr Formby currently runs clinics in Birmingham (B14, B16) and Solihull (B90) and is available forĀ  home visits across the Midlands region on request.

 

 

 

 

 

Assessments routinely cover:

  • Condition, attribution and prognosis
  • Treatment recommendations
  • Prior vulnerability
  • Interference of symptoms of daily living
  • Indicators of veracity and genuineness
  • A full range of diagnostic indicators, using the DSM-5 criteria (e.g. PTSD, Phobia, Adjustment, Depression, Generalised Anxiety, post head injury symptoms)
  • The impact of pain
  • The impact of disfigurement / scarring
  • Workplace disadvantage

 

 

 

 

Reports are completed within 2-4 weeks from assessment, dependant on the case and court bundle. It may be possible to accommodate urgent instructions upon request.

Fast-track Personal Injury Assessments are generally provided at a fixed fee.

Fees estimates for Multitrack, CICA and Clinical Negligence assessment reports are generally provided following instruction, with an upper ceiling to be negotiated, dependant upon the complexity of the case.
